Kindergarten Class!!!
Welcome to our class! My name is Stephanie Hawkins and I teach Kindergarten here at Maxwell Elementary. I wanted to take this time to tell you a little bit about myself.
I am from a Naval family so I have traveled and lived in many places, including California, Florida, and even Japan. I have been here in Thomson since 1989. I graduated Thomson High in 1993 and Augusta State University in 1998. In 1998 I also got married and moved to Washington, GA. I started teaching at Dearing Elementary that same year. During my 7 years at Dearing Elementary, I taught fourth grade, third grade, and first grade. In 2005 I changed to Kindergarten and moved to Thomson Elementary. In 2007, I began teaching here at Maxwell Elementary!
Since beginning my teaching career, my husband and I also started a family. We now have two children. I have a daughter named Shayna and a son named Brooks.
During the school year, the main form of communication will be the daily notebook. This notebook goes home with your child every day. Please use it to let me know about any bus changes, questions you have, or requests for conferences. It is very important for the parents of my students to understand that I do everything I can to make sure your child is getting the best education. It is more important for the parents to know that it is up to them to work with them at home as well. An education is not something just learned at school. Families must be supportive and help by reviewing and reading with their child on a daily basis!
