**Notice of Tax Increase

The McDuffie County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 3.69%.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the McDuffie County Board of Education, 716 N. Lee Street, Thomson, Georgia, on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.

The time, place and location of additional public hearings on this tax increase are on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. and at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Thomson High School. A called meeting will be held in the auditorium at Thomson High School at 6:30 p.m. on September 7, 2021, to set the millage rate.

**The tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 18.69 mills, an increase of 0.665 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 18.025 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000.00 is approximately $66.50 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $75,000.00 is approximately $49.88.

**The McDuffie County System is reducing the current millage rate of 19.69 mills to 18.69 mills. The purpose of this notice is due to the established rollback rate being less than 18.69 mills.
