As we close out School Board Appreciation Week in Georgia, we would like to take a moment to thank our McDuffie County Board of Education members for all that they do. Under the direction of the current board, the McDuffie County School System:
- Achieved its highest-ever accreditation score
- Was recognized as a world-wide system of distinction
- Reached its highest graduation rate since 2012
- Received the Georgia School Board Association’s Exemplary Board Award
- Created the state’s first mobile STEM and Reading Lab
- Accepted the Georgia School Board Association’s Leading Edge Award in recognition of the comprehensive STEM curriculum
- Expanded work-based learning and CTAE pathways for high school students
- Reduced the millage rate on property owners through responsible budgetary management
- Celebrated a sixth state football championship
All of these accomplishments, along with the day-to-day operations of the system, would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our board members: Andrew Knox, Sr., Sarah Alfriend, Susan Benning-Tutt, Brad Chalker, Brian Jernigan, Pamela Strouble, and Angela Miller-Hudgeon. McDuffie is truly on the move because of you.
