McDuffie County Earns Prestigious GSBA Exemplary Board Recognition

The McDuffie County Board of Education has once again been awarded the Georgia School Boards Association’s (GSBA) Exemplary Board Recognition, the highest level of achievement in GSBA’s three-tiered recognition program.

This honor underscores the Board’s commitment to effective governance, continuous improvement, collaboration, and student achievement, all of which contribute to fostering strong schools and maximizing opportunities for everyone within the district.

“We are grateful to our board members and their diligence on behalf of our students and staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Mychele Rhodes. “They continue to work toward providing McDuffie County with the best education possible, and we are pleased that GSBA chose to recognize our board and our district’s efforts in this manner.”

To earn this distinction, the McDuffie County Board of Education exceeded rigorous criteria established by GSBA. The standards for Exemplary Boards are designed to ensure that local school boards provide outstanding leadership and accountability in service to their communities. The GSBA Board Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and school board members, based on the State Board of Education’s Standards for Effective Governance.

Established in 1998, it was one of the first programs in the nation to set clear, measurable standards for local boards of education. McDuffie County has received this recognition every year it has been awarded since 2015.
