                  If you had asked me as a child what I wanted to be when I grew up, teaching would not have been anywhere on my list. In fact, I often said I would never become a teacher. From my young perspective, teachers were the foundation of every profession, yet they rarely received the recognition I believed they deserved. Looking back now, after seven years in the classroom, I can clearly see the emotional immaturity of that mindset.

                   Experience has taught me that the true rewards of teaching are not found in recognition, but in the opportunity to influence lives in ways that often cannot be measured. A strong foundation is rarely the most noticeable part of a building, but it is unquestionably the most important. When it is carefully built, everything placed upon it has the capacity to withstand the tests of time. I believe education works the same way. What students learn today has the power to support them for a lifetime.

                   As an educator, I have the privilege of helping students develop far more than reading and writing skills. Every lesson is an opportunity to strengthen their ability to think critically, effectively communicate , problem solve , and discover the confidence to navigate whatever challenges life may bring. Those are the tools they will carry long after they leave my classroom.

              I teach English Language Arts, and I do so with purpose, confidence, passion, and pride. I teach for real.
