Autism

Students with Autism eligibility are served through the full continuum of programs ranging from placement in regular education to full day placement in special education. Placement is provided in a specific program which meets individual needs and is based on the IEP.

Students with autism may exhibit the following behaviors in a general education setting:

• uneven academic abilities
• difficulty in understanding social relationships
• difficulties relating to people
• poor communication skills
• resistant to change in routines
• obsessing on objects or subjects
• literal thinking
