Orthopedic Impairment

Orthopedic impairment refers to students whose severe orthopedic impairments affect their educational performance to the degree that the student requires special education.

Students with orthopedic impairments may exhibit the following behaviors in a general education setting:

  • tire easily
  • perceptual problems
  • chronic/acute health problems
  • poor fine/gross motor skills
  • physical limitations
