Auxiliary Services

A quality system that identifies and has a network of services that support the development and well-being of each student

The McDuffie County School Nutrition program provides quality meals and nutrition services that contribute to the nutritional well-being of our students and performance at school. Since nutrition affects physical growth and intellectual development, well nourished children are better able to learn. The main purpose of this program is to meet the nutritional needs of the children of McDuffie County while in the education setting. We strive to plan, prepare and offer food choices as healthful examples for McDuffie County students in order to increase the likelihood they will learn to choose a healthful diet. The school nutrition program (SNP) participates in the national school lunch, school breakfast and summer food service programs. All programs are regulated and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture with the School and Community Nutrition Unit of the Georgia Department of Education overseeing the program administration. Our nutrition program serves two balanced meals daily to an average of 1,584 students for breakfast and 3,064 students for lunch. The nutrition director encourages suggestions for the meal items that students and teachers would enjoy. The department also strives to involve all students, parents, and teachers in local nutrition programs.
